Also, the newer 400 f6.8 incorporated the simpler and faster sliding focusing
mount, enabling the lenses (400 and 560) to be hand held.  I remember seeing
that they were introduced in 1968 or therebouts and a prototype 400 was used
by David Douglas Duncan in photographing the Democratic convention in Chicago.
