It is really very simple. I put the camera on A, and the Metz in the TTL mode and shoot. The aperture I select shows in the finder and is transmitted to the flash, and the speed is set to 250. The results are just as consistent, so long as there is enough film speed for the selected aperture. I have used this only indoors so far, using both the bounced main with secondary fill-in, and with "straight on" main.
