Subject: [Leica] Leica III advice

Hi All!

I just bought an old Leica at an estate sale. This is my first time ever
owning & operating a Leica screwmount. I had been looking forward to that
for a long time. I think this is a IIIa (body #183058.) It came with a
Summar f5/2 lens. Although the people who saled it must have thought it
was an old piece of junk (they wanted $30 for it) it looks in a very nice
shape. It came with the original Leica accessory books and stamps from
the shop where it was purchased. My guess is that the person had been the
only owner. Only visible problem: one of the RF eye pieces is missing. The
RF itself was very dusty but works fine. So does the shutter (at least so
it seems.)

Could any of you advise me on the type of cleaning/maintenance I could do
prior to using it or if I'd better have it serviced? Any good place in the
San Diego/L.A. area? I did not dare doing more than a superficial cleaning
of it since I am far from being a specialist. Also any idea where I could
find a replacement eye-piece?

Thanks for the help
