Subject: [Leica] Using a goggled 35 on non-M3 M's

Hi all,

removing the goggles will not work! You also have to alter the gear of
the focusing barrel. Here's why:

The different magnification of the goggles reduces the base of the
rangefinder, but not the angle.

Thus with goggles

	small base

and without goggles

	+------+

	bigger base

As you can see, at the same angle of the RF beam hits the VF beam at a
larger distance when the base is increased. Thus, if you remove the
goggles, you have to focus, read the distance from the dial on the
lens, multiply by 35/50 and reset the distance.

Personally, I find it a bit difficult to focus on my .72x finder
because of the small RF patch, but I'm wearing glasses so getting an
overview is easier for me with the goggles. Since focusing is not so
important because of DOF I prefer the goggles.

Cheers, Peter.
