Hi Doug,

Yes, Leitz indeed made such a polarizer. It screwed into the front of the 
lens, in same way as the retaining ring, and had a rotating mount.  They are 
hard to come by.  I can't remember the old catalog number but will check.  I 
saw two in Germany a couple of months ago, but, alas, each had separation.
