[Leica] I'm Back!

Hi All,

Well, I'm back from my 2 month sojourn around San Fran, San Diego, Mexico,
London, Paris and South Africa. The last time i spoke to any of you was
just before my exams last November I think, and now i'm back on the list
one of the first questions that arises is the use of U.V.'s--Ugh and oh
dear. Well done to Jim who is obviously either tired or restraining himself
from responding to this much LUG maligned question :-)

My apologies for not reaching Donal while I was in San Diego. The
conference hours were much longer than i anticipated, and when i wasn't
there i was sleeping or dashing across the border between seminar's to snap
a few shots with my trusty Leica III which held up remarkably well. To give
you an indicater of busyness on the trip, I shot 7 rolls of 36 Tri-X for
the 2 months i've been away. Very disappointing. Since getting back i've
had a new home to get used to, and an additional cat to the family. Said
cat is still reluctant to part with what he perceives as his side of the
bed.

Casualties of the trip include a dropped VIOOH Finder (serviceable, i
think) and a rangefinder window which has fallen somewhere between Capetown
and Franschoek. If anyone knows where i may be able to pick up a
rangefinder window for the Leica III, please let me know! Tomorrow i'm
taking my neglected M3 for a wander- so nice to back home with the other
one i love!

I didn't spot any other Leica's being used while i was away at all. One
thing that really shocked me was the amount of attention my camera got
while wandering around Paris. Some people literally gasped, others merely
smiled and nodded. One guy just enquired "Black and White", when i said yes
he nodded some form of consent. I walked away feeling as if i'd just
entered some Leica inner sanctum that is only allowed through the admission
of a near silent Paris retailer.
