Pan F is my 35mm studio film. I give it 11 minutes in Rodinal at 1/50
but I seem to be switching to Xtol which would result I think in my
using a 100 or even a 400 speed film in the studio. It's possible though
I might be able to rate Pan F at 100 as the Xtol would allow that given
it's extraordinary qualities.
Apples and Oranges:
TMax and Delta films are new generation tab grain films with less silver
and a different look than older more silver fatter rounder grain films.
Although the newer films are "sharper" I prefer the older films because
I like the traditional look (I shoot a lot of 35mm location tri x) and I
am too much of a clutz to get any consistency with the newer films which
for me would require a water bath temperature recirculator deal.
Pan F is grainer than it should be for a 50 speed film especially with
Rodinal but I make 11 by 14's with glee and no one would complain (they glow).
It's a work horse film like Tri X and they both go in the same tank as
my Tri X also gets 11 minutes in Rodinal. I'll fix the Tri X more though.
