No. Leica will offer a special remote cable for $459 that comes with a
two-year passport guarantee (only valid in the US).  It will survive
anything from -70 C to +125 C, function in vacuum, incorporate carbon
fibre, Gore-Tex, titanium and diamond powder in its structure, and be
based on infra-red technology using twin, pulsed GaAs-laser strobes.
The eye of the remote will be an ASPH/APO triplet design with
two cemented elements.  No UV filter will be necessary, due to the
multicoating technology used.

It will be offered during the first quarter of 2000, but production
will be delayed for 18 monhts.

In the mean time, surprisingly enough, someone will discover that the
$19.95 Canon RC-1 infra-red remote works just fine and in addition
offers mirror-lock and bulb functions.
