Subject: [Leica] focomat 1c, two questions

dear luggers,

monday i bought a real cheap focomat 1c (black one, approx $30). of
course without any instructions. now i have two questions:

1. what is the right lamp power? right now the enlarger is equipped with
a 150W bulb.
2. i read a lot about the focomats in the lug's archive. the most people
suggest to put (multigrade) color filters on top of the condenser. but i
wonder if they won't get too hot there. especially with a 150W bulb. are
there any drawbacks when i put the filter beneath the film carrier?

the focomat was sold by an elder man in mannheim, germany. he offered a
m2 with 35 summaron, 50 & 90 elmars together with the focomat for DM
350.- (approx. $190.-) !!!!!!!
that is not a joke!!!
the offer was published 4th of june in a special newspaper for second
hand sales in southern germany. i read it too late and of course the
camera was already sold but at least the enlarger was still available
for DM 50.- .

yours

michael
