I would think that if you get a 70-180 f/2.8 + 2X APO you'd have a 140-360
f/5.6 in which case the 180 f/3.4 is still superfluous unless you want to
have a lightweight 360.  IMHO wildlife photos are hardly ever a casual
pursuit unless you're talking about squirrels in the park.  I'd think a 360
would be marginally useful unless you're very skilled at approaching
animals without alarming them.
