I personally believe that Hasselblad enjoys the endorsement of professional
photography. Leica does as well, but in a limited manner. ............All of
these sales are to professional
photographers in the San Francisco / Northern CA area. Very few amateur
sales.

So what is the key to this success?

I think Jim has really hit on the problem...... Define the market you want
and then plan to get there...... I don;t think Leica has done this at
all..... Expecting the small number of current Leica Junkies to keep them
alive is at best treading water.

I knew the head of the Yashica Contax Marketing team when the Contax RTS
first came out. Mr. Numano chased every pro he could find in the USA and
Europe and Japan and personally tried to convince them to try the Zeiss
lenses over brand Nikon or Canon or other..... apparently he had some amount
of success as the Contax line seems to have survived....... If Leica is
serious, they had best consider whet this camera went through to gain
acceptance.

Again, the Contax camera was really marketed as a camera body with Zeiss
optics... the best in the world, even though there were Japanese lenses also
in the line. Why can't Leica rise tio their strengths and promote the
incredible lenses?????.

Leica, You listening?
