At the risk of sending sophisticated list members to consult a mass-market photo mag,
the latest Popular Photography has two items of interest to us.

1) a 2-page advertising spread for the Cosina/Voigtlander stuff, with nice photos and
very substantial ad copy which contains a glaring error regarding Leica. Can you spot
it? Makes you wonder whether the folks at Cosina are truly targeting Leica users in a
well thought-out way or just out fishing for any customers they can get their hands
on.

2) a provocative test of AF focussing accuracy versus manual focus. The test shows
that AF is not that reliable, all things considered, and that Canon EOS-1 AF
technology still beats Nikon F5 etc. for image quality at point of focus. Perhaps
Leica's resistance to AF all these years is well-founded: why throw away superb lens
quality for the intermittent advantage of quick focus?
