Go on any Canadian or US ship and they will sell you a baseball cap at
their mess or Canteen.  I would assume it is all for PR purposes, not
profit.  Incidentaly, on a Canadian ship you can buy beer or alcohol at the
mess very cheap.  I belive the American ships are dry.
