I used an Emo Macromax 5x (made in Wetzlar) and a Horizon 8x for a long time,
happily, until one day in the office I was wearing my 8x Zeiss binocular
surgical loupes (attached to a pair of prescription eyeglasses on a flip-down
bracket) when I took a short break to look at some slides that just came back
from the lab. It was amazing. Surely they're the perfect complement to
Leica slides. Not surprisingly they cost about as much as a Leica lens
($1800 when I bought them several years ago) but now I have a real problem
going back to a photo loupe.
