Bill:

I totally agree.  The first thing anyone who is serious about
photography should do, regardless of camera or lens, is to use
professional processing (or do it at home if you have the know-how and
the technology) and when shooting color, use slide film, preferably
professional slide film.  Even with C-41 professional processing (and
professional film that has been properly stored, is not expired, etc.)
makes a big difference.  And get contact sheets if you are using print
film.  It's the only way you can see what the photo really looks like.
If you want a closer look, make an enlargement.  4x6 prints are fine for
friends and family but useless for evaluating equipment or probably even
technique.
