Mark:

Very nice post. I actually agree with you despite your earlier savaging
of me. I'm glad to hear someone is using his Leicas and getting
satisfying results. I have been using mine too and enjoying them. Last
night I photographed my wife in a small production of Flotow's "Martha"
(German opera, 1847, very popular at the time). I sat in the front row
and used two M bodies, one with a 35 (Summicron Asph.) (which covered
most of the stage) and one with a 90 (APO Summicron Asph., yes, I
somehow got my hands on one) (for individual singers). I haven't really
had the opportunity to use two bodies much before but it's great. We'll
see how the pictures come out. ; )

I especially agreed with the following statement:

>>I think the 50 is the underdog best lens for most occasions and you
can't have
>>enough of them, or normal's of any format.

Despite not having used one last night, my 50 Summicron is the lens I
take if I am just going out with one lens. I also have a 50 Summicron
for the R (came with the SL). I would love Summiluxes, Noctilux and
collapsible Elmar too if I had unlimited funds.

Ignore the posts you don't like and respond to those you do.

Jay Coleman
