The pro lab that I use runs a Q-plots every hour for transparencies and
every 2 hours for C-41.  They offer 1 hour, 2 hour and 24 hour service for
transparencies (the extra charge between 2 and 24 hour is minimal and they
deliver free).  I shoot mostly transparencies in MF, and I would not dream
of going to another lab when a mishap could cost my clients quite a bit of
money and time for a re-shoot.  It is crucial to use the same film emulsions
and the same lab to have consistent results.

One difference you'll also see for C-41 processing  is that the pro labs
will use dip and dunk processors to provide the highest quality processing
available (no roller marks or scratches).
