I can't answer as to the Leica R screens, but I'm using a Maxwell screen
in both my Rolleiflexes ('51 3.5MX Tessar, '81 3.5F "Whiteface" Xenotar).
The difference between his screen and the stock screens in either camera
is just staggering: about 3 stops brighter overall, even illumination
right to the corners, and far far easier to focus. The new screen
transforms the '51 camera into the equal of a '90s camera viewfinder-wise.
The '81 is even better due to a better mirror. 

I tried a Beattie Intenscreen in a Hasselblad at the local shop and was
very unimpressed. Yes, it was very bright, but it was not easy to focus
with.
