Subject: [Leica] so called "R8 glut"

Now, I usually keep my nose out of this kind of stuff...but... ;->

I have NEVER heard even one person at Leica say that there is any sort of R8
glut. ?????

If you want to say that these babies don't sell "fast" that can be said of a
lot of Leica gear. Certainly the motor drive situation borders on the absurd,
but I just don't see a warehouse of these sitting somewhere that need to be
"liquidated."

In fact, a couple of weeks ago they were actually out of stock on them in the
US...they had to be replenished by Germany.

I think that with the $400 rebate on them right now, if my experience as a
dealer is at all typical, they are selling "ok" for Leica gear and I doubt
any kind of 1/2 price sales is coming. I am not speaking as any sort of
representative of Leica; I'm just venturing my own personnel opinion...

Perhaps something was said at the LHSA meeting that I missed??? I'm just
wondering where this rumor started and if there was any truth to it.
