But -

For gosh sakes, *don't* burden her with a pair of the 8x50s! To say 
that they are heavy would be a gross understatement.

I used to have a pair of the Marsept 7x50s  (WWII vintage) that were 
lightweight and had an awesome exit pupil.  I just wish Leica - - or 
someone - - would put those back into production, complete with the 
super prisms and multicoated optics.  They would be a smash hit.
