Subject: [Leica] Question on M6 Finish

I use a recent M6.85 and a M4-P. And in the past I have used a older M6.
All cameras where black finishes. The M6 finishes have lasted longer than
the M4-P's finish, the older M6 barely showed any bright marks or scratches.
The M4-P which I love has become a zinc finish without much harsh
treatment. First it started as rubbing marks around the camera straps then
in front of the shutter dial, rewind knob, paint chipping on the camera back
and so forth. Works as well as the day it was manufactured but the finish
is yukky. The other day I saw a pathetic looking M6 black at a $1,100 US at
a local camera store. It was dusty and maybe a little muddy? This camera
had a mean and careless owner but after close inspection and a bit of
saliva, you could still see that it still had its pretty black finish. I
don't think I would buy a camera in this condition but as far as finish went
it still was black. Hope this extreme example helps.

PS
only chrome camera I had was a double stroke M3, that chrome finish was very
durable, used it for a year and the finish was still the same as when I
bought it.
