Erwin,

I realize you were reporting what the BJP said about it (and not necessarily
expressing your own views on the subject), but what "advantages for the
consumer" did the BJP see in any Fuji-Kodak merger? Quite aside from price
competition, it was Fuji's aggressive marketing, with very good films, in
the US market in the mid-1980s that woke up Kodak and spurred them to
introduce some new, very good films of their own, a competition that
continues. Without that kind of prod from a competitor, E-6 shooters would
still be complaining about the failings of Ektachrome-X.
