I thought this might be the best forum to find if I should look for a 35mmf1.4, perferably ROM, or stay with my 35mmf2. I find myself shooting a lot at f2.8 and f2 and the Summicron works well there except at f2 there is noticable edge softness and fall off in illumination. . . . --> Please consider this alternative that really could make your photo bag much more exciting: 1 9 m m - R f/2.8 Elmarit : one beauty of an ultra-wide I realize that was not your question, but since you have the cash and already own a Summicron 35mm f/2, it would not be that much of a loss to use higher speed film for low light: the film / lens "limitations" would then afford you an extra EV value (or more, depending on film type ) and quite possibly capture the "soul of the moment" even easier at much less expense. If you did NOT own a 35mm Summicron I might flow towards a f/1.4 but a Summicron remains a Summicron. We might also be in for a 35mm Leica - R lens upgrade soon: imagine yourself shooting with a new Summilux-R equal to the Summilux-R 35mm ASPH 'M' ... Start saving up ! Do consider the 19mm in the meanwhile. Andre Jean Quintal
