Subject: [Leica] Leica limitations (?)

Hi !

I am a SLR user (Nikon) and have long been wanting to add a RF system to my
outfit. Main objective is to have a quiet and discrete camera with fast
optics that I can use for the more 'touchy' documentaries.
When I looked into the specs of the Leica system (and the Contax G system as
well) I noticed that the lenses only focus to 0.7m - I find this sounds
quite limiting esp. with wide lenses. With my SLR I use focal length from
20mm to 50mm most and find a close focusing capability quite useful...

So, is this really a major limiting factor? How do you work around this?
If often heared that a RF, esp. the Leica M is very well suited for
wideangle glass because of the acurate focusing... so I don't quite know
what to make of all that. Of course I'm reluctant to spend quite a bit of
money in a system that makes me wonder about things.. maybe you can help to
clear that up for me.

TIA

Matthias
