(by the way , you possibly mean f4.5) Its a very good Leica lens. I owned 4 of them (now 2, since my screw stuff has gone). The head can be used on any Visoflex. I makes very good and sharp close-ups when used in conjunction with the Viso. The f4.5 f stop is not so bad, because you would use the lens under normal circumstances outside or on a tripod.( It has its own socket for it). It is not a Tele lens and therefore needs less lens elements. It has 4. That makes it somewhat longish looking. The quality however is , in my opinion, excellent. I also have a late model Elmar 4, which is supposedly better, but I could not find any difference. If the length does not disturb you, and you like a lens in this focal length, buy it. You can't go wrong. Should you buy one, unscrew the head and look in to the focussing mount. (from the front) and check that it has a number either penciled,. scribed or written on to a peace of stuck on paper, the same serial number as the lens head. Sometimes only the last 3 of 4 digits are marked. That's enough. This lens is not much discussed on the LUG. I don't think its fashionable enough. Regards, Horst Schmidt
