Of interest -- since the subject does come up here from time to time -- may
be new digital offerings to come out a PMA shown at
http://www.dcresource.com/specials/PMA2000/index.html

One is 6.1 megapixel resolution (without really having 6.1 megapixels or
using interpolation, according to the copy; I don't understand it) Fuji
adaption of a Nikon SLR capable of shooting 5 frames per second and
looking somewhat like Nikon's D1, but selling for $1000 less than the D1.
Another is the latest in the line of Fujis which seem to get rebranded as
Leicas (getting a bit back on topic here), this one with 4.3 megapixel
resolution (but again the technology which really isn't 4.3 megapixels, and
which I don't understand).
