Dear friends........
I finally succumbed ..........

On the day itself before I took off for a holiday in Cairns, I actually
went
out and bought not one but TWO R lenses......... the fantastic R100/2.8 APO
Macro and the R28/2.8 ( old version)......... the R100 was mint and in
pristine condition (ROM-less version ) ....... not so for the 28 tho.......

My wife didn't pour cold water on me........ she was there when I made the
purchase too...... she knows I have been eyeing the R100 for a long
time.......

so we holidayed there with my R7 and R50 and these 2 lenses......I left my
R28-70zoom at home ......... the R100 was marvelous but really heavy with
the R7 plus flash........ I had a lot of fun with shots of beetles, flowers,
tree barks, dragonflies, spiders , frogs , birds, koalas......... I can't
wait to see the pics.... I hope they turn out fine......

And oh......... Cairns was beautifully quaint........ small and quiet.......
The pple there were really friendly, and that made a big difference...... we
went up to the Kuranda scenic trail.... travelled on an ancient train on an
even more ancient handbuilt railway up to the mountains.....

BTW, the last piece of glass at the rear of the R100, where U can see and
touch, seems to be a piece of plain glass........is this piece meant to be
protective in nature as opposed to contributing to the optical
performance...? Sounds like a silly question, cos why would Leica put
something non-optical in a picture taking lens ..........

I want to get the original lens manual for this R100 lens....... can anyone
offer
guidance in this dept ? Thanks in advance.....

Bye for now and wishing U all a very happy and prosperous Chinese New
Year......
Peace for the incoming Dragon year.....
TMLee (very broke now...... )

ps,

 BTW........
Dr Joseph Yao should be happy that I didn't dumped the R7 with lenses.......
but instead, expanded it........ The R100 is definitely for
keeps,.........its a real beauty....

Ironically, on the 30th Jan (whilst I was still in Cairns) someone here in
S'pore who is also on the OM list, notified me about the Zuiko 90/f2 Macro
and the Zuiko 21/f3.5 he saw in the 2nd hand shop window........

These are 2 lenses I have been looking for a long time........If the R100
didn't come along the way, I would have bought the 90/f2 Mac and things
would be very different then...... I would remain with the OM system
.......... and sold off the R system (sorry....please don't flame
me)........ and started on the M system.......
