Subject: Re: [Leica] Summitar Filters and Cap

Thanks to Horst, Marc, Mary Grace, Robert, John, John and everyone else who
replied to my questions about Summitar filters and caps. You have given me
a lot of great information! I expected nothing less from this list!

I am a little leery of old filters. I have a bunch of old series VI
filters, some of which are delaminating. Of course for the right price and
condition I'd give the Summitar filters a try. I think I am going to try to
find one of the Summitar to E-39 adapter rings since I would like to be able
to use the filters I buy on both the IIIf and M4. Thanks for the model
number. Its also nice to know that there is a clip-on lens shade that might
work for an LTM camera. The vented shade for the Summicron M fits but
blocks too much of the viewfinder.

And as far as putting filters on a Leica lens... I'm not going to get into
the optical quality debate. Just sometimes B&W work benefits from a yellow
or red filter.

Mike D
