So far, I've been in the habit of outfitting cameras with the swivel-less 1-inch Domke "Gripper" straps (thin nylon straps leading to a wide cotton section with Domke's woven-in rubber slip-reducing strands on the inner surface), with the only fiddly bit being that I tend to apply a bit of tape to try and keep the split part of the ring where the strap attaches to the camera's lugs from rotating down to the lugs and chewing on them. It's hard to imagine a strap being much more unfussily useful, but I'm always ready to learn -- you have a history of optimizing camera setup in a pleasing way.
