Yeah, Cindy Sherman is an annoying twit. Her stuff has
been pure shallow cliche from day one... but you're 
right we have to cleanse the mind:

the late Raghubir Singh's work, especially his 
book _Bombay_: one has to spend time with it, 
go back to it, think about it; incredible 
density and richness and complexity. 

There are many many others (S. Salgado, W. Allard, 
I. Cunningham, L. Burroughs for example), but Frank
and Singh I keep going back to.
