I'm going there in two weeks and I'd be thankful for any advice at all anyone can offer . I was in India just about a year ago. I arrived in Madras (Chennai) around this time and remained in India or Nepal untill early April. I traveled all over India, mainly by rail. It never rained. Dust was everywhere, but, never a wind driven duststorm. I kept my Leica gear in a small Pelican brand box with foam cushions and an air-tight seal. However, this was mostly for security rather than environmental concern. I carried a mf camera and a few compact 35mms in a vest. I don't recall any problems with environmental cponditions at all. Have a great trip. Bill Lawlor
