Granted I don't read SB from cover to cover, but do you know the issue
that said the carry on will soon be subject to the xray machines that
use focused higher energy to look at objects which are not clear to the
operator?

One thing to keep in mind in the US is that FAA regs require hand
inspection of film if requested, so in the US there is no need for the
shielded bags.
