I spent about $500 cdn on speaker cables a few years back, but not for any
real sound difference. These cables (I forget the manufacturer) are thin
but very wide, about 6". They can run under rugs without you noticing that
there are cables there. I had big thick ugly NAIM cables there before and
dammed if I can hear the difference.

I'd be more than happy to believe it, if only it were true. But since what
the proponents of "wonder wire" say makes no sense, and since I've done a
blind test (just to be sure I'm not nuts), and since the proponents won't do
a blind test (because it creates "tension"), well, I guess you know the
rest.

Of course, in one case, and only one, it is true. If a speaker wire is not
of sufficient diameter for the length, the capacitance will be too high and
the wire becomes a low pass filter. But since 14 gauge zip cord won't have
that effect for several hundred yards, (if my memory is correct) you have
nothing to worry about. Just don't use 20 gauge wire for you speakers.
