Ahhh canoeing -
My definition of a "Canoe Camera" (back when Tri-X was 85c a roll and color was $2.35). You are paddling along and the camera falls into 15' of water..... "Damn! that was color film!!!"

Subject: [Leica] Waterproof Leicas?

Lugnuts:

Since I will be spending a considerable amount of time in a canoe this
summer, I have been searching for ways to take photos with waterproof
cameras. My choices seem to be to buy a "cheap" waterproof
point-and-shoot or to find an underwater camera housing to protect one of
my Leica M's. I'd rather go the Leica route. My other Leicas will be
traveling in a Pelican waterproof case. All of the camera housings that I
have found are for Nikon, Canon, or point-and-shoot cameras. Is it the
nature of this beast that the camera be auto-focus? Even the EWA type
plastic bags do not include rangefinders in their list of supported
cameras. How difficult would it be to focus through the waterproof
bag? Any suggestions for photographing from a canoe with Leicas?

Thanks!
