I've got the problem on my new Voigtlander Bessa-R. Any clues as to how I
can adjust it?

In short, RF misalignment is when either the two images do not converge at
all (usually in the vertical), or when they converge at an incorrect setting
(usually horizontal). In other words: vertical misalignment manifests
itself as the two coincident images being slightly offset vertically. This
may be annoying, but it doesn't affect focus accuracy (other than if it
becomes too distracting to see properly). Horizontal misalignment occurs
when the images coincide, but the resulting image at the film plane is out
of focus. This is most easily (only?) detectible at infinity: Focus the
lens at something at least two miles off. If the images in the RF patch do
not align perfectly, then there is horizontal misalignment. Obviously, this
type *will* affect focus, and requires fixing.

How to fix horizontal alignment has been dealt with in the past on this
list, and serves as an excellent opportunity to exercise the curious
person's skills at handing the list archive engine ;)
