good point.

My brother is using a HP Smartscanner to scan low-res thumbnails of 
prints (3 at a time) and imports them into Portfolio, together with 
shooting information he obtains via Nikon PhotoSecretary soft (yes, he 
uses an F5). He says this works quite well and doesn't take too long.

But that doesn't work for slides, obviously.
