Leica will be introducing a new and very compact Motor-M for the Leica M at
the upcoming Photokina. It is compatible with all Leica M models M4-2 and
later.
The camera is released via the camera release button. The motor has two
speeds, 1.5 and 3 frames/sec., and is selected with a combined on/off switch
located on the back of the camera.
Power is provided by two lithium 123A batteries in the vertical handgrip. A
minimum of 100 36 exp. rolls of film is the designed capacity on one set of
batteries.
The Motor housing increases increases the height of the camera/motor unit by
18.5 mm. The housing is made of fibre reinforced synthetic material
(PC-GF20), while the base which carries the motor and gear box is made of
steel. An especially developed DC motor powers the winder and uses a very
silent gear system. Weight is 10.5 oz. without batteries. The tripod socket
is centered below the lens mount.
MAP price is $649.00 and delivery is scheduled for Feb. 2001.
