Alan, yes, Plath is indeed the Leica of sextants, the very best. I would
mourn, too! And, of course as you who use them know, but others might
not, the sextant is good at sunset or sunrise when you can identify the
star and horizon, or at noon, while the GPS gives you accuracy so great
that the pencil line on the chart is too broad to note it. Love of a
beautiful thing does count for a lot!!
