if you're already considering a grip, consider the gmp grip for the m. i
personally found the all metal construction a bit sturdier than the plastic
leica one (though i'm not anti-plastic in general), the feel very solid,
and i like the fact that the grip doesn't actually come into contact with
the 'leather' covering of the m body (which, iir, the leica grip does).

the gmp grip does center the tripod mount, and you don't need to remove it
to remove the baseplate and reload (in fact, i've not removed my grip since
i put it on about 6 months ago). i've never used it with the heliar 15, so
can't speak to the protruding knuckle issue.
