Not stupid at all.  Sounds as if it would be a correct assumption, but it is 
not.  Remember, these watches are adjusted as as to keep accurate time in 6 
or so different positions.  That is because they have been found to operate 
differently in each of these positions.  If I remember correctly, a watch 
would tend to lose time facing down, on its crystal.
