luggers,

the comment about the m6 being a 'camera for buffs' was not intended to
call into question the nature and purpose of the leica rangefinder and its
applications in professional photography, but to suggest the inanity of
these kind of camera discussions, particularly in relation to the recent
brouhaha about the leica 0. while i certainly won't be buying one, i
honestly don't care a fig who does, what they'll do with it, and why leica
is producing it in the first place. i assume it is like the 'special
edition' m's they periodically come up with. how, indeed, whether or not
the new leica 0's will actually be used is - imo - a meaningless question;
they sell at a premium and folks buy 'em. that would seem to be the point.

now, for lugnutz who'll retort that instead of blowing potential r & d
dollars on instant photographic dinosaurs, leica should be trying to fix
what we don't like about the m: who is to say they're not? as jim pointed
out, this is money in the company's pocket. money that may well be spent on
improving and developing the leica line.

so if the 0's not your cup of decaf, just consign it to the same mental
shelf whereupon you place the various other commemorative models you never
bought, and reload that camera (make sure the rewind knob/lever/whatever is
turning), get out there, and take some pichurs!
