I had seen both photos on the front page of Monday's Times, but I wasn't
that astounded and didn't see the point of commenting on them. The first
photo was quite dramatic, but I think some of its shock value (for lack of a
better word) was diluted by having seen the video footage of the same
incident most of Sunday afternoon, including the poor kid and his father
receiving a direct burst of automatic weapons fire ("caught in a crossfire,"
my ass!). The Gore picture didn't really impress me; I thought Gore had put
on a lot of weight, until I noticed that he wasn't the guy taking the
picture.
