I know Moose is a great advocate for Nikon but what he has to say about
the
usefulness of a digital camera to a professional photog is certainly
food
for thought!

Howard, I just found out about an associate who landed two annual
reports to be shot on the D1.

That, I think, is ground breaking.

And if you haven't seen the new Contax AF system with digital body, do
yourself a favor. This is a slick piece of work. It is the only AF
body I've held that works for left eyed shooters because of the
placement of the focus point control. And, AND, it uses a full 24x36
format so all the lenses retain their relative coverage. And it feels
like a solid camera (though so does the D1, lmuch less so the new Canon
D30). The AF is smooth, the lenses feel like Zeiss. It is, in so many
ways, the camera we all wish Leica had made. Except that it takes all
new lenses, of course. But all the AF lenses are intechangeable on the
Contax 645, as well as the digital back.

Somebody in Germany (and Japan?) has been doing some thinking.

And it is this camera technology along with the delivery system (read
computers and internet) that gives Moose's opinion the weight of a
grizzly.
