Subject: [Leica] Buying Leica M on Ebay

I have now bought two M bodies and a lens on ebay.

The first one listed as Mint did not work. Shutter was locked up, needed
a CLA,etc. The seller agreed to and paid for this.

The latest, just bought, was advertised as almost like new, except for a
ding on the edge of the backdoor. From the front, it did look almost
like new. Topplate was beautiful as a meter had never been used. Seller
guaranteed satisfaction. When you push in on the back door where your
right thumb rests, it makes a popping sound. Ran a test roll through it
and lo and behold, the first two pictures had vertical, top to bottom
light leaks.

The lens I bought was fine but the seller never refunded the overpayment
I allowed for the shipping costs as promised. He said he was a LHSA
member too.

I think I have bought my last camera body on ebay. Seems like there is
something wrong with every body I have purchased.

I have sent the body with the light leak off to Sherry and hope it can
be fixed. Otherwise, I will be in a hassle with seller I am sure.

Anyone else had any problems along these lines? Any comments,
suggestions?
