[Author Prev] [Author Next] [Thread Prev] [Thread Next] [Author Index] [Topic Index] [Home] [Search]Novice B+W film question: I am using an M6 TTL 0.85 and I have noticed in past then when I shoot a roll of TMAX 400 followed by a roll of Tri-X in the same light, the Tri-X is all overexposed. I decided to test this a little more clearly by shooting a roll of each in the exact same conditions. I shot a stark white wall with my Noct at F8 using the meter reading (1/30) and then using every other shutter speed on the dial. The TMAX shot at the meter is a medium gray as I expected. It is a bit lighter than my Kodak gray card, but I needed to hold them side by side to determine that. The whole series gives a range of 9 clearly distinguishable tones. The Tri-X shot at the meter is nearly white! It gives a range of 8 tones. Is this a known quality of Tri-X? It looks like I have to compensate by about 2 stops to get the same exposure from both films. Thanks, Peter
