Steve,

There are no crummy Leica-R lenses.  Newer is better, faster is cooler, anything APO is tops in its class.  My arsenal is composed mostly of old (read: cheap) and borrowed lenses from 21mm to 560mm.  Not one has been a disappointment.  I've reviewed a few of 'em on my website:

It will be easier for us to give you detailed comments if you ask something like "what R-lenses do you like for portrait work" or "what lenses do you like for close-up work in the 180mm to 250mm range?" or "which 180 do you like and why"?
