[first post... :)]
John,

I have it, and the Dimage Scan Dual II. The scanner is wonderful - small,
powerful, reasonable price. ViewScan is... OK. ViewScan's greatest
advantage over the default software is that it seems to handle greater
contrast more smoothly (when using the multiple passes). This works great
for my b&w stuff in particular.

A caveat: for maximum quality scans with ViewScan, be prepared to wait half
an hour or more for the scan to finish. Personally, I use it only for when I
want to digitally alter a shot that I intend to have printed at a lab,
typically to 8x10 or more. Otherwise, I can't be bothered, and will just
use the default software. Is it worth $40 for that? For me, yes. Maybe
not for everyone.

You should be very happy with the scanner, however.

C.

I would appreciate any feedback on Hamrick Software's ViewScan. I am going
to be using it on a Minolta Dimage Scan Dual II (USB). It claims to enable
single pass multiple scans on the Minolta models which do not support it.

Thanks,

John Collier
