I do that too and get pics that are sharp because of the DOF achievable by
stopping down. But I miss the bokeh though.

I do not understand why there is so much gripe for DOF markings. I hardly
use them on my Leica lenses except when I am doing hyperfocal settings on
rare occasions. I do not miss them on my G-lenses as I do the f-stop
settings instinctively and get the pictorial effect that I want. But then,
I suppose not all people feel comfortable using the Contax G like I do.
