    I am an ARCA Swiss B1 believer so I don't have any info but to answer
your why cant an engineer question, Gitzo has come up with  lighter heads
made out of magnesium.  Here is a quote from B&H web page.
 "Gitzo introduced Magnesium heads to the photographic industry, which offer
the advantage of being up to 20% lighter - and make perfect partners to
Gitzo Carbon tripods."
