Bokeh is just a name.  I believe since DOF was 'understood', many photographers have been taking advantage of shallow depth of field...  Hell, I didn't know it had a name until I joined the Leica list, and I've been 'paying attention to it' for near 30 years!

P.S.  How DID your blanket get wet, anyway, Ted ;-)
